Meet the beekeepers

Hi! We’re Sarah & Justin- husband and wife beekeepers, turning our passion into business. Our company, 4 Brothers Honey, is named after our four boys who were the inspiration to start this beekeeping hobby.

We started beekeeping as a way to spend time together, learn a new hobby and strengthen our marriage. Since 2017 we have grown from hobbyist beekeepers to a sideline beekeeping business.

We have the usual products for sale: Raw Honey, Propolis & Honey Throat Spray, Pollen, Beeswax Lip Balm, Beeswax Salve, Beeswax Candles, Beeswax Fire Starters and Beeswax Food Wraps.

However, we also offer a unique and skilled service of honeybee cutouts. This process involves removing honeybees that have moved into your home or building and need to be safely re-homed and your home or building fully repaired. In 2023 we successfully relocated over 40 honeybee colonies and repaired every home/building from which they were removed.

This provides a great service to the community because it removes the honeybees from an area that is potentially dangerous to the public, while simultaneously properly re-homing the honeybees. This service is provided by highly skilled beekeepers and construction workers, with specialty equipment and full insurances/licenses.

Hive Locations

4 Brothers Honey relies on partnerships with local small farms, and neighbors with larger acreage to grow our apiaries. Currently, we keep over 60 colonies of honeybees in 12 different locations in the following towns: Horsham, Ambler, North Wales, Lansdale, Doylestown, Pottstown and Harleysville.

When we bottle our honey, we are careful to harvest each location separately, through this we call ourselves “microlocal” because you can purchase honey with the specific location name. Additionally, we provide a blend honey that is a combination of all apiary locations together.

How we keep honeybees

We take our work as beekeepers seriously, we regularly attend local beekeeping meetings and conferences to continue educating ourselves about the best ways to manage honeybee colonies. Our philosophy is to keep honeybees in the most ethical ways possible. Our honeybee colonies are organically managed using - IPM systems, the only chemical treatments are organic, and only ever used on equipment that contains the non-food grade wax and honey stores for the bees. All of the equipment, honey and wax that goes to the consumer is never touched by these organic chemicals. All equipment is stored over winter in a freezer protected from pests.

We are licensed to sell honeybees through the PA Department of Agriculture, which means our hives and practices are regularly inspected by the state apiarist, our honey kitchen is registered and inspected by the PA Department of Agriculture on a regular basis and we are PA Preferred Farmers.
